Project Background
In Mongolian households, there is an urgent need for a stable power supply for basic appliances. Traditional power supply models are limited by the local environment and infrastructure, resulting in significant constraints:
- Insufficient grid power coverage and stability: Mongolia is a vast country, with some households having weak grid power coverage. Furthermore, the harsh winters and windy summers make grid power easily interrupted due to extreme weather.
- High electricity costs: Some areas in Mongolia rely on diesel generators for supplemental power. The cost of diesel procurement and storage is high, and generators generate significant noise and exhaust pollution.
- Difficulty adapting to seasonal electricity demand: In winter, household heating equipment operates at high loads, while in summer, basic electricity needs for household appliances must be met. Traditional power supply methods struggle to balance seasonal energy consumption differences, easily leading to power shortages or energy waste.
In September 2025, to address these challenges, the project introduced a power supply system consisting of “16 550W photovoltaic panels + 30 kWh lithium iron phosphate batteries + 11kW inverter/controller,” providing Mongolian households with a clean, stable, and independent energy guarantee.
Solution
The project team tailored a targeted power supply solution based on Mongolia’s climate and household electricity needs:
1. High-efficiency solar energy utilization: A 16-panel 550W high-power photovoltaic array, adapted to Mongolia’s abundant summer sunshine, features high conversion efficiency per panel. The 16 panels generate an average of 35 kWh per day, meeting the basic electricity needs of local households. The installation angle is optimized for Mongolia’s latitude to maximize solar radiation reception, ensuring sufficient power generation in summer and stable output even in low-light conditions during winter.
2. Large-capacity energy storage adaptation: Utilizing lithium iron phosphate battery packs, which have high cold resistance, the system can store excess daytime energy from the photovoltaic panels. This ensures a stable basic household electricity supply during prolonged periods of cloudy or rainy weather in winter and stores excess energy during abundant summer sunshine, preventing energy waste and perfectly adapting to the “high winter, low summer” electricity consumption patterns of households.
- Intelligent inverter and control collaborative management: The integrated inverter and control unit combines inverter, charging, and control functions, monitoring photovoltaic power generation, battery status, and household electricity load in real time, and intelligently allocating energy. It also features overcharge, over-discharge, overload, and lightning protection functions to cope with abnormalities such as battery loss due to low temperatures in Mongolia’s winter, ensuring the safe operation of the system.

Implementation Results
After system commissioning, key breakthroughs were achieved in Mongolian household scenarios:
1. Power Supply Reliability: The synergistic effect of photovoltaics, energy storage, and inverter control enables 24/7 uninterrupted power supply to households, eliminating reliance on grid power for families in areas without access to electricity.
2. Energy and Cost Optimization: The system generates an average of 35 kWh of electricity and stores 30 kWh daily, fully covering the daily electricity needs of households. It completely replaces diesel generators, resulting in significant monthly cost savings. Furthermore, clean photovoltaic energy produces no exhaust fumes or noise pollution, significantly improving the living environment.
3. Environmental Adaptability: The wind and sand-resistant and freeze-resistant design ensures stable operation in Mongolia’s harsh winters. Even if the photovoltaic panels are briefly buried by heavy snow, simple cleanup is all that’s needed to restore full-load power generation, guaranteeing a continuous power supply.

Solution Value
This project provides reusable experience for household electricity use in Mongolia and similar high-latitude, frigid regions:
1. Energy Model Innovation: The combination of “high-power photovoltaic + cold-resistant energy storage + intelligent inverter control” breaks the limitations of insufficient sunlight and power outages due to low temperatures in high-latitude regions during winter, providing households with a “self-sufficient” clean energy solution.
2. Industry Adaptability and Promotion: The system design can be replicated in mobile homes in pastoral areas and detached houses in suburban areas, solving problems such as grid power blind spots and high-energy-consuming heating, and promoting the upgrading of household energy structures in high-latitude regions.
3. Ecological Synergistic Benefits: Solar power generation replaces diesel power generation, reducing carbon emissions and balancing household electricity convenience with ecological protection, achieving a win-win situation for both economic and environmental benefits.
